Support for Windows XP ended

Support for Microsoft Windows XP ends a week today (8th April). Microsoft provided updates and support for XP seven years before support was scheduled to end on 8th April 2014. However, an extended period of support for a further five years was provided to allow larger organisations and custom software to upgrade to a newer version of Windows. This extended period is now over.
Direction Forward cannot provide support for Windows XP. Microsoft will no longer provide security updates or technical support for the Windows XP operating system. Security updates fix vulnerabilities that may be exploited by malware and other explotts, and help keep users and their data safe. For compliance, users should now migrate to a modern operating system, such as Windows 10.
The reason to update to a newer version of Windows are:
- Security – you are vulnerable to viruses and malware without support and security updates.
- Compliance – businesses governed by regulatory obligations may find that they are no longer able to satisfy compliance requirements.
- Lack of Independent Software (ISV) Support – software vendors no longer support their products running on Windows XP.
- Hardware Manufacturer Support – PC hardware manufacturers will stop supporting Windows XP on existing and new hardware.
