Killed by Google

Up to today, Google has killed off 155 applications, services and hardware.
This impressive list highlights the power and influence Google has. The breadth of what Google is involved in can be seen, however, many of these applications, services and applications are ceased by Google on a regular basis.
Taking the official shutdown dates that have occurred in 2019, a Google-branded product, feature, or service dies, on average, about every nine days.
A significant example of this is the closure of their RSS reader, Google Reader. Google had a declining but large following when Google Reader was closed. Feedly said that more than 500,000 new users had joined them in the 48 hours preceding this. The gravity of this is also highlighted through a petition signed by 100,000 people in attempt to save Google Reader.
Google+, a previous social network, was another service shut by Google with grave implications. Millions of users were affected in a large data breach late last year, following this, Google+ was closed for business use and consumers on April 2, 2019.
The consistent shut down of applications, services and hardware is causing a negative conversation regarding the brand. The consequence of this is a distrust appearing amongst users. Due to this, users should be cautious with their data shared or saved on such services and have an understanding if they can migrate data in the event of a closure.
