Dropbox releases Smart Sync

This week, Dropbox released their new product called Smart Sync. It is a tool that allows users to access files stored online in Dropbox accounts automatically on a desktop without having the file needing to be stored locally.
Smart Sync is designed to give people and businesses who deal with multiple large files constantly, a way to share and access these files without needing to store these large files on their desktop. The files behave much as you would expect them to on a desktop, ie. a photo opens into a photo on preview etc.
The files are not “streamed” but are synchronised, opened, and after viewing/editing are delivered back to the cloud and then cleared out, making the system closer to a true cloud experience.
Smart Sync uses the available kernel extension and has been thoroughly screened for security.
It is already available for all Dropbox Business and enterprise customers for early access but will be available for all users in the near future.
