World’s first Google Station Wi-Fi hotspot set up in Pune, India

Google Station have set up their first Wi-Fi hotspot in Pune, India. The fast Wi-Fi initiative aims to bring high-speed internet to public areas world wide.
Google Station is a collaborative project between IBM, Larsen and Toubro and RaiTel.
The purpose of Google Station is to provide fast access to the internet in public areas and then eventually monetise the entire system. Google primarily will provide the platform support required to integrate Wi-Fi access across a multitude of locations with a single sign-on process.
Public call boxes, PA systems, environmental sensors and more will be integrated into the system. Pune is the first of the Smart City Network but more will be rolling out in the near future.
