In July 2023, Google Analytics 4 replaced Universal Analytics. All customers moved to Google Analytics 4 for website measurement by this date. The old platform, Universal Analytics, stopped processing new data, but access to both has continued to be available.
With this rollout complete, Google has now announced that Universal Analytics will be switched off in the week of 1 July 2024. This means that all access will be lost to any Universal Analytics properties and the API from July. This includes historic data, which will be deleted by Google.
We recommend that Google Analytics customers export previously processed data from Universal Analytics well before this date, in order to avoid the loss of this data.
How to export data from Universal Analytics
- Move to Universal Analytics from Google Analytics 4 using the “property selector” in your Google Analytics admin area.
